Key words being used by designers consist of wellness, relaxation and comfort.  People are looking to create spaces within their homes that can recharge them.  Builders and developers are looking to include saunas, small gyms and even small reading corners.

Comfort is the focus for 2025.  Breakfast nooks have become more popular as a space that feels more casual than a dining room, but more intentional than barstools at a counter. Great performance fabrics elevate the banquette to easy clean and feel.  This balance of elegance and ease is also reflected in the living room.

Shapes are softer and more relaxed and the fabrics have a soothing feeling to the hand.  As well, interiors are becoming more individualistic with a style that fits into everyday living.  Also coming into focus is the “less theory”. Designers are reimagining minimalism through a historical lens.  More minimal Art Décor, Country, Modern, Farmhouse or Beach has come into favour in our homes.

Another trend for 2025 is artful lighting.  People want more than function and are looking for statement pieces that shape the entire room.  People are using lighting to double as art.  Less traditional ways are making way for more playful art pieces.

Natural materials bring warmth and texture to the space with stone, wood and natural fibres showing prominence in lighting.

Another direction for trends of 2025 is bringing the outdoors in.  Larger indoor plants, living walls or even using wood as an accent.

Colours

Brown, and its many shades and tones, continue to be embraced.  Every shade, from dark chocolate to soft cream is showing up in bedrooms, as accent pieces in living rooms and most paint outlets have promoted the variety of browns and where and how to apply them.

There are so many shades to play with, and brown can act as a soft neutral or a rich moody tone.  Earth tones are set to dominate interiors in 2025.  Shades like deep burgundy, navy blue, saturated greens and terracotta will dominate adding depth and sophistication.

Colours associated with wellness and a sense of calm are the soft greens and muted blues, but darker earth tones, like chestnut brown and moss green, will show up in residential as well as commercial spaces Personal expression is also a new trend for 2025.  People are leaning towards finding a style that fits how they live. I enjoy working with customers who want to create a home that reflects who they are and how they live their lives.
